All the attention this weekend at Homestead is focused on the Big 3, and for the most part, that's how it should be. But as three drivers push for the championship, others are seeing longstanding team and sponsor relationships draw to a close. One, of course, is Kurt Busch, who will leave the old Rusty Wallace Blue Deuce behind for Shell in 2011. (Brad Keselowski will take over the Miller Lite Dodge #2.)
"It’s been a great run," Busch said earlier this weekend. "It’s tough to see it come to an end, driving the Blue Deuce. It’s been a privilege to drive the car and carry on the legacy that Rusty Wallace started. Just when I started to feel comfortable in his shoes that he left me, we had to make a change."
Busch was requested by Shell, which has to make a fella feel good. Still, he leaves behind a fine legacy, having won eight times in the regular season and captured an All-Star race. Not bad, Urt, not bad.
