Congratulations to the McMurrays as Jamie McMurray and his wife Christy became parents to a baby boy just after 8:30 ET Thursday morning.
Carter Scott McMurray, 7lbs 12oz, 20' long, was welcomed into the world on Thanksgiving Day, placing a new meaning on the day for proud parents Jamie and Christy.
This -- we think -- concludes the NASCAR baby boom. McMurray joins Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Juan Pablo Montoya and Ryan Newman as Cup drivers who became fathers in 2010. Newman's daughter was born just before race weekend at Homestead.
And 2010 doesn't give much credence to the thought that NASCAR drivers lose their "edge" when they become fathers. Yes, both Edwards and Gordon had sub-par years, but both made the Chase. Elliott Sadler had success in the Truck Series and McMurray had possibly the best season of his career.
Oh yeah, that Johnson guy won his fifth title.
