WATERFORD - Doug Coby will be defending his victory in last year's Valenti Modified Racing Series season opener from the best place to be Sunday at the Waterford Speedbowl.
Coby, of Milford, will be on the pole for the 100-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series season opener, the showcase event of Budweiser Blastoff weekend at the Speedbowl.
Coby won the event last year, his second career VMRS victory at Waterford. He also won his first career VMRS event in 2009 at the shoreline oval.
"We'll just try to stay out front tomorrow," Coby said.
Chris Pasteryak of Lisbon will start second and Rob Summers of Manchester third.
